About
Alan Payne takes time with making and creating. It is truly a life long journey. He will not bore any of you with a long and arduous statements about himself. He began making and creating at a very early age and it was not until his thirties did he realize he wanted to do this for the rest of his life. He actually took five years before he ever acted upon this realization! Several people have been an encouragement along the way. Two people in particular were his eighth grade art teacher and a private studio teacher he had when he was a teenager. More importantly the statement below culminates what he believes and how he practices his making. In his words, “I have never been one to confine myself to a single medium. One medium is too confining, I desire to have a well-rounded view of making.”
Alan has taken the time to venture into teaching art. This will allow him to teach in the K-12 sector. His degree is from Metropolitan State University Denver. While he studied the reasoning behind how and why students should make, he also was making in the areas of painting and sculpture.
